The 1952-55 era Oldsmobile frame you're interested in is a rare and intriguing find for classic car enthusiasts. This GM Cad Center Buick frame, specifically designed for Oldsmobile models from this era, has undergone a unique transformation. Despite the top of the vehicle being burned, the frame remains in relatively good condition, showcasing the resilience and durability of classic American automobiles.

The frame is made of high-grade steel, a testament to the engineering prowess of the 1950s. It boasts a robust structure with strong crossmembers and well-defined mounting points for the suspension, engine, and transmission. The Buick-sourced frame, with its unique handle, adds a distinct character to the Oldsmobile, making it stand out from other models of the same era.

The handle, a feature typically associated with Buick vehicles, is a unique addition to this Oldsmobile frame. It provides an extra level of safety and convenience when working on the vehicle, making it easier to maneuver and position the body during restoration.

Despite the burned top, this frame is a valuable find for those looking to restore a classic Oldsmobile. It offers a solid foundation upon which to build a beautifully restored vehicle, and the addition of the Buick handle adds a touch of uniqueness that sets it apart from other Oldsmobile frames. Whether you're a seasoned restorer or a newcomer to the classic car hobby, this 1952-55 era Oldsmobile frame is a great starting point for your next project.

Details:

I'm pretty sure most if not all new conv parts are red hot when they're formed at the factory so it's not like they have never seen heat before. Some of those oils and lubricants will really interfere with painting things later. Then pick out the puddles of hard molten die cast, burned off copper wire, etc and send the hulk to the melting pot. All the teach strip burned out so that would need replacing along with the latch and visor brackets.

There is pitting in the header but no viable rust out. This frame is more for the body that doesn't have a top at all or maybe one that got rolled at one time and straightening the top parts just never came out right.

Part of the die cast melted away but part is still there so it didn't get as hot as it could have. The header definitely sagged from the heat but with heat on the top and the right pressure it could be un sagged. It's mostly about the factory hole in the top near the ends of the header along with the step down in the metal. If anyone knows exactly what this one is or isn't,i would appreciate a note.

Someone suggested I oil the joints and stretch it out but i'm hoping someone that needs it will recognize it and pick it up without me having to do that. One bow could use a bit of straightening but most of the other workings look very usable.

Or it may be from a car that accidental burned and this frame saved. I've seen Chevy top frames and the header is similar but where they had the individual latches on each side, this one had a handle that closed the latches on each side.
